Nature is often represented by the color green. Green also has connotations of growth and health due to its obvious connection with plant life and vegetables. More recently, the color green has developed a strong link to all things environmentally friendly. ‘Green’ products, politics and business are in vogue and probably here to stay.
Terms like ‘eco’, ‘organic’, ‘sustainable’, ‘clean energy’ and ‘recycling’ have become part of our vernacular. Some businesses differentiate themselves based primarily on their eco-friendly features while other organizations are purely focused on achieving positive environmental outcomes. As a result of this, and to capitalize on the pro-green sentiment, designers, businesses and marketers have begun incorporating visuals and colors that communicate and capitalize on the messages and benefits of the ‘green’ and environmentally friendly movement.
